SAP OF THE ELM, SOUND TABLE

SPRING 2025 NEW RELEASE 🍃

Sap of the Elm is a 38-string instrument divided into three distinct sections, inspired by nature’s living cycle. Its deep strings evoke the earth’s depths, the mid-range strings the pulsing heart of the sap, and the high strings the dance of leaves in the wind. Designed as a rising flow of energy, it guides ear and body in an ascending movement, from grounding to awakening.

Sap of the Elm is to be listened to as one listens to a tree: with patience and presence.

SAP OF THE ELM
Vibrational instrument with 38 strings – singing leaf

Sap of the Elm is a poetic and intuitive instrument inspired by the elegant shape of the elm leaf. Its broad body, crafted from Baltic cherry wood, resonates deeply and generously thanks to its 38 stainless steel strings, arranged across three registers:

  1. The Earth – 14 low strings tuned in fifths
A single-string section placed at the top represents the nourishing soil and roots. These strings can be gently brushed or struck to produce deep, enveloping vibrations that soothe the nervous system.

  2. The Sap – 12 mid-range strings in a pentatonic scale
Tuned to create a smooth and open progression, they express the vital surge of rising sap. Each note awakens an inner movement, stimulating energy and intuition.

  3. The Foliage – 12 high strings in a pentatonic scale
Light and shimmering, these strings evoke leaves trembling in the spring breeze. They bring light, mental clarity, and a sense of spiritual awakening.

A bodily and immersive experience

Sap of the Elm can be played in two ways:

  • With fingers (pads or nails) and a small included mallet.

  • On a table or directly on the body, in a calm and contemplative posture.

  • Placed on the body lying down (belly or back), it becomes a sound massage instrument: deep vibrations spread throughout the body, creating a sensation of cellular regeneration and unity.

It can be used during:

  • Vibrational healing and relaxation sessions

  • Spring or grounding rituals

  • Creative explorations in intuitive music

  • Moments of inner reconciliation between shadow and light
